Borrow the Bazaar Advertising

Akshita’s work ethic is unmatched. She was so proactive about communicating timelines and scheduling check-ins, doing the research to validate our marketing initiatives, and bringing organization and structure to an otherwise chaotic process. I can say with certainty that a lot of our initiatives would’ve taken significantly longer to do and wouldn’t have gotten done as well as they had without her leadership and perspective. If I or anyone else I knew needed help with marketing, she’s the first person I would reach out to.”

Ruchi and Heli, Founders of Borrow the Bazaar

Borrow the Bazaar is THE place to go for Desi outfits – it’s basically Indian style Rent the Runway! Co-founders and sisters Ruchi and Heli wanted to see Indian clothing be a regular part of U.S. culture, so they set out to make that happen. For example, people should be proud and comfortable to wear Desi clothing to events such as the Golden Globes. It should be extremely accessible to achieve that, shouldn’t be something 5000 miles away only in India. They have done a great job creating partnerships with the right suppliers, relationships with amazing designers, and truly curating the brand with outfits that customers love. Going the extra mile is their secret sauce — they’ll truly go above and beyond to get you the gorgeous outfit so you’re turning heads at the next big event!

As a part of Borrow the Bazaar, I got the opportunity to create advertisement campaigns, improve website SEO, and help articulate their brand for them. For instance we came up with a tagline – “You dream of luxury, we deliver stress-free”. I determined which SEO metrics they should be tracking and setup a monitoring system for these important metrics. I designed three advertisement campaigns, determined audience and objective for these ads, and tracked metrics after running them for a certain duration. After that, I consolidated the data in a report and presented the results to the co-founders, giving them recommendations on what worked and what could be improved for next time.
