Green Chutney

Green Chutney is a cilantro-based savory condiment served with all kind of Indian foods, and you can even use it as sandwich spread! This chutney is most commonly served with samosas and chaat and pairs well with Imli Chutney, a tamarind-based sweet condiment.

Condiment for: 3-4 people. Prep Time: 5 minutes. Note: pay attention to whether recipe asks for seeds, powder, or leaves – it matters.

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 cups cilantro leaves
  • 1.5 cups mint leaves
  • 1 green chili (small)
  • 1/3 tsp jeera seeds (cumin)
  • 1/4 tsp kala namak (Himalayan black salt)
  • 1/4 inch ginger
  • lime juice to taste
  • 1/2 clove garlic optional
  • 1/2 tsp gur (jaggery sugar) optional
  • 1/2 tsp unsweet imli sauce (tamarind) opt

The Process:

1. Separate the mint and cilantro leaves from their stems and wash the leaves thoroughly. Take out all other ingredients for convenience.

2. Insanely easy to make! Put all the ingredients in a food processor, blend until smooth, and serve. (Note: feel free to make adjustments on salt, sugar, spiciness, or tanginess after taste-testing!)
